Happy Monday, my friends! We are welcoming May and it’s a very special month for two reasons: We celebrate Mother’s Day [here in the Dominican Republic is celebrated on the last Sunday in May] and it’s my birthday month! This morning I found out it’s Mardi’s birthday on the 12th so make sure to congratulate her on her blog or via Twitter [btw go check out her amazing GuacaMuffins and GuacPops!]
Last week I was talking to Jen and Junia about opening a Facebook Page and guess what? I DID IT! I can now join Jen’s discussions [health & fitness related!] and make new friends Don’t be shy, go say hi to me on FB!
I added a new feature to my blog: look to the right and from now on, you can see which books I read. I finished Gary Taubes’ Why We Get Fat [great book if you like scientific data] and immediately grabbed Secrets of the Sommeliers by Rajat Parr. I’m halfway through and let me tell you it’s a fascinating read! As some of you may know by now, I am taking wine classes and if I pass the test I’ll be an AIS & WSA certified sommelier :D Oenology class was my favorite when I was in Culinary School and I’ve been waiting almost a year to join this program. I’m really excited and learning a LOT. If you love wine, Parr’s book is for you: every page is filled with wine wisdom, anecdotes and inspiration.
